Principle:
B-ultrasound uses the reflection principle of ultrasound to form images.
Ultrasound is a sound wave with a frequency higher than 20,000 Hz, which has good directivity and penetration. When the ultrasonic transmitter transmits ultrasound to the human body, the ultrasound will be reflected at different interfaces of human tissue. These reflected waves are received by the ultrasonic probe, which converts the received mechanical wave signals into electrical signals.
Different tissues have different acoustic impedances. When ultrasound encounters these tissue interfaces with different acoustic impedances, reflection and refraction will occur, thus forming echo signals of different intensities.
Main structural components:
1. Probe:
It is the key component of the ultrasound instrument that contacts the human body and transmits and receives ultrasound. Different types of probes are suitable for different examination sites, for example:
1) Convex probe: The probe surface is arc-shaped and has a wide field of view. It is suitable for abdominal organs such as liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, and obstetrics and gynecology examinations, etc., and can observe tissue conditions in a large range.
2) Linear probe: The probe surface is long and has a relatively high resolution. It is often used for superficial tissue and peripheral blood vessel examinations, such as thyroid, breast, limb blood vessels, etc., and can clearly present subtle structures.
3) Phased probe: Mainly used for heart examinations, it can realize multi-angle deflection of the ultrasonic beam through electronic control, which is convenient for observing various structures of the heart from different angles, and overcoming the occlusion restrictions on heart imaging such as the thorax.
2. Host:
It is the core control and processing unit of the entire ultrasound instrument, which includes ultrasonic transmitting circuit, receiving circuit, signal processing module, image display control module, etc. It is responsible for generating electrical signals to drive the probe to emit ultrasound, receiving echo signals from the probe and performing a series of complex processing, and finally transmitting the processed image signals to the display for display. It also controls the various parameter settings and function adjustments of the ultrasound instrument.
3. Display:
It is used to intuitively display the results of ultrasound imaging. Doctors analyze and judge the morphology, structure and presence of lesions of human tissues by observing the black and white ultrasound images on the display. Most of the current displays have high resolution and good contrast to present image details more clearly.
